Pfizer, a leading pharmaceutical company, amidst an FDA warning
In one of its news releases last week, Pfizer had reported that the process of improving the conduct and monitoring of the clinical trials was almost complete, and no issues henceforth would be reported on these counts. Probably, this pharma news release comes a week later after the FDA issued warnings to Pfizer on alleged violations during the clinical trials of Geodon, an anti-psychotic drug, in children and teens.
The fact that about 13 children participating in the clinical trial received large doses of the drug; much larger than what would be prescribed to be given to children, is alarming indeed! A letter from FDA nails the issue at hand – Pfizer didn't monitor the clinical trials properly and the entire process of the trials was done in a haphazard manner.
The children who received overdoses of the drug did experience side effects like feeling tremors and having restless legs, but the good news is that these tremors didn't last with them for a long while.
Anti-psychotic drugs have always been on most pharma news sections, mostly triggering off debates between warring factions. On one hand, the FDA has backed the use of these drugs for treating Bipolar Disorder, and on the other, drug experts have vehemently opposed the use of these anti-psychotic drugs, especially on children.
Drug experts quote the results of taking Risperdal, an anti-psychotic drug of the same class of Geodon. They quote with facts that about 1200 children suffered from serious side effects, of which 31 children succumbed to fatalities. Surprisingly, about one third of the children who died, were due to inaccurate prescription of the anti-psychotic drug.
Clearly, the latest pharma news streaming in from FDA needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, especially considering the safety of kids. With Pfizer repudiating most concerns related to the working of clinical trials, only time will tell if these concerns are fully answered or not.

Think about it, sick babies make everyone nuts.
Freak out parents and the general public, they won't buy that product, leaving them looking for an alternative.
How much do you want to bet we're gonna hear about some new, safe wonder drug for babies under 2 in the near future?
Happened with the "cervical cancer vaccine". Someone decided that a vaccine that isn't proven, and doesn't work for everyone, is MANDATORY in some places!?!?! How on earth do people justify that?
The only way I can think of...
