All About Sieves

Removing debris like twigs, big lumps, rocks and other unwanted things from good soil can be done by a special tool called a garden sieve. A tool that is used to filter or separate the unwanted particles is the definition of a sieve. A net or mesh screen is used to sift or sort through the dirt.

Garden Sieves are a great tool for sorting finished compost from larger, matter that is unfinished. It can help you ‘clean’ good soil from coarse materials, clumps, weeds, stones, and leaves. When it comes to spreading items on the garden or lawn like fertilizer, top soil, compost, or basic soil amendments a sieve is a wonderful tool.

Sieves can be free standing or hand held depending upon the size of the job. A free standing sieve has a fixed base with a curved surface to make a chute for the material to go through to reach the interchangeable screens.
